Alternative Funding Programs

Insurers and Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) are putting patients at risk, often as collateral damage, as they try to cut costs while maximizing profits. To save money, insurers and PBMS leverage alternative funding programs (AFPs) to shift prescription drug costs, including importing medicines using unsafe drug supply chains. AFPs are a gimmick increasing in popularity, but the injurious tactics associated with AFPs are growing, and more data is being collected regarding the problems they are causing patients. Eliminating AFPs protects patients' well-being so they are not treated as pawns for profit.
