New York motorcycle riders and their families know the cost of inaction. Too many in our community have been lost to crashes caused by careless or negligent drivers — and every year, surviving families are forced to confront a wrongful-death law that treats their loved one’s life as if it has little value.
After the Governor’s fourth veto of the Grieving Families Act (A6063/S4423), it’s now up to the Legislature to do what’s right. The votes appear to be there — our State Senate and Assembly simply need to come back, stand together, and override the veto with a two-thirds majority.
ABATE of NY and
Long Island ABATE are calling on all riders, families, and supporters to take
action.
Tell your State Senator and Assembly Member that it’s time to finish the job
and modernize this outdated law. New York families — and the entire riding
community — can’t wait any longer.
