Congressional Mitochondrial Disease Caucus

Mitochondrial disease is at a critical juncture - unparalleled developments in gene sequencing could mean we are at the cusp of a breakthrough, but for this to happen we need dedicated advocates and sustained research funding.

Now is a critical time to ask your Members of Congress to join the bipartisan Congressional Mitochondrial Caucus.  Fill out the information to the right to send your Congressman/woman an email, or call their office directly to ask them to join.

The caucus is co-chaired by Reps. Jim McGovern (D-MA) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) and has 31 additional members.  This important caucus serves as a forum for members of Congress and staff to learn about mitochondrial disease and related illnesses.

To date, the caucus has held several important briefings that have detailed mitochondrial disease and its impact on children, adults and the links to more common illnesses such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, some cancers, and autism spectrum disorders and secured much-needed funding for mitochondrial disease research in annual appropriations.

Representation matters. Help us today by asking your House Member to join the caucus at this critically important time.
