Protect Your Voting Rights

The SAVE Act threatens to suppress the voices of the vast majority of American voters. Even though our laws ALREADY require every voter already affirms their citizenship during registration, this legislation creates additional documentation hurdles for voters – barriers that disproportionately harm people of color, voters with disabilities, older adults, and women. Here’s why:

  • Half of Americans - 146 million - do not own a passport; two-thirds of Black Americans do not and older citizens are less likely to have them
  • 69 million married women do not own a birth certificate reflecting their legal name, and neither do many transgender citizens
  • 60 million people who live in rural areas would be forced to drive up to eight hours round trip just to update their voter registration information

This legislation would prevent Americans from registering to vote by mail; end nationwide voter registration drives; and eliminate online voter registration.  In all, these proposals would make civic participation much more difficult for millions of citizens every election, and would altogether disenfranchise millions more.

We need you to help ensure that our voting rights are protected. Reach out to your Senators TODAY and urge them to VOTE NO!
