Senate Bill 26-145 is bipartisan legislation that ensures a more inclusive, transparent, and fair process for how school facility decisions are made, so all public school students are considered. It ensures meaningful inclusion by requiring school districts to solicit and consider charter school facility needs and include a charter school representative in their planning processes, and it promotes fairness by requiring districts to provide clear reasons when charter schools are not included and give charter schools the opportunity to respond to concerns.
The bill overwhelmingly passed both chambers of the Colorado General Assembly and is on its way to the governor's desk for his signature.
Join us in thanking the four legislators who sponsored this legislation and led the way on fairness and transparency for all public school students: Senate President Pro Tempore Cathy Kipp, Senator Scott Bright, House Speaker Pro Tempore Andrew Boesenecker, and Representative Lindsay Gilchrist.
