The COVID-19 recession has left the Illinois economy at a turning point. Our state has a choice about how to rebuild our economy to address both long-term economic inequalities and new economic crises. The next step the state can take to create an equitable workforce policy and address this crisis is to support the 2022 Illinois Skills For Good Jobs Agenda.
Please take two minutes to contact your legislator and share with them the 2022 IL Skills for Good Jobs Agenda.
This letter is a chance to raise your voice as a workforce development professional to educate state legislators about the important work you do to support job seekers and advance workforce development. You are encouraged to personalize the letter with your individual perspective. This will increase the letter’s impact by making it clear it is not a form letter. Consider these questions as prompts:
Share about your work. What issues are you and the job seekers your support facing? What challenges do you see that stand in the way of achieving economic equity?
Fill in the blank: “We need investment in skills or workforce development to respond to ____….”
We need our state legislators to know: Illinois must invest in skills training and workforce development that is rooted in equity in order to achieve an inclusive economic recovery!
