Cost of Living Increases (COLA) Matter!

For many of our direct care workers, living paycheck to paycheck is a reality, and COLA has proven a lifeline to retaining the hard working, dedicated individuals supporting older Mainers across long term care centers. 

We know far too well that the challenges facing long term care facilities stem from too few workers and inadequate reimbursement rates that are not keeping up with the rising cost of care, not to mention the costs associated with housing, childcare, etc., amid record inflation levels.

Maine lawmakers need to hear from you about how vital COLAs are to ensuring meaningful wage increases keep pace with Maine's annually adjusted minimum wage and help ensure the doors stay open for the next generation of aging Mainers.
