The U.S. Swim School Association, together with CCCSH, is proud to support AB 1005, a bill that addresses critical drowning prevention issues long overdue in California. Drowning is the leading cause of death for California’s children ages one through four and remains one of the top causes of injury and death for youth through age 24. We believe that increasing parents’ and students’ knowledge about water safety, drowning prevention, and access to swim lessons for children of all backgrounds—including those from lower-income families—is a vital step in reducing these tragedies
AB 1005 (Davies) drowning prevention bill passed out of Senate Appropriations Committee on August 29th on a 7-0 vote.
Please join the USSSA, CCCSH, and DPF in offering our appreciation to Assemblymember Davies and her great staff for all of the work they put in to keep this important drowning prevention bill moving.
The next step is a vote on the Senate Floor likely by the end of next week and we need you to take action and contact your Senator.
