The proposed Corporate
Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards are being set to a level that is
not attainable with liquid fuels alone. Despite Congress directing NHTSA
not to consider electric vehicles (EV) in determining the maximum
feasible standards, NHTSA includes EVs in their annual baseline. This
standard will force manufacturers to transition away from internal
combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to meet the new standards. This move by
NHTSA, in conjunction with emissions rules the Environment Protection
Agency is enacting, is a significant step towards eliminating ICE.
We need to grow the number of cosponsors joining Senator Cruz (Texas) to let the people in Washington, D.C. know their constituents want to save the internal combustion engine!
