SB 1327 is a discriminatory and unwieldy digital ad tax that will hurt businesses of all sizes and consumers who rely on the digital economy, including advertisements, and will inevitably drive expenses higher for everyone in California.
SB 1327 proposes taxing businesses 7.25% on the revenue generated from the sale of digital advertising, separate from the income taxes already paid from income generated from sales of digital advertising. Assessing such a tax will drive costs higher for Californians since the platforms paying the tax will build those costs into the products they offer in order to offset the new expense.
