CALL TO ACTION: PHCC-TX OPPOSES HB 2334

DECISIONS MADE AT THE CAPITOL CAN HAVE A
DRAMATIC IMPACT ON HOW WE DO BUSINESS.

CALL TO ACTION:

CAN YOU SPARE a minute to send a message to your state senator?

The Senate Business and Commerce Committee has received HB 2334, the bad bill that would remove a requirement for licensed oversight in certain areas.

This legislation will allow unlicensed persons to work on service mains and service lines providing water and sewage service. Untrained hands performing plumbing work on this scale risks contaminating water supplies. This is not just a matter of licensing requirements but of public health.

The way this bill is written, anyone would be authorized to conduct this type of work, regardless of their background and training. Licensed plumbers are highly trained and qualified to ensure plumbing work is done safely and up to code. Without qualified oversight, untrained workers could create dangerous working conditions and use improper materials, which could increase the cost and time required to complete the project.

WE HAVE A PROFESSIONAL OBLIGATION TO URGE OUR LEGISLATORS IN AUSTIN TO PUT AN IMMEDIATE STOP TO THIS BEFORE IT CAUSES REAL HARM TO REAL PEOPLE. IT ONLY TAKES A MINUTE OF YOUR TIME.

Here's what you need to do:

1. Fill out your information in the contact fields in the "Take Action Now" box on your screen.

2. A pre-drafted letter has already been written for you on the next screen.

3. Send the letter. It will automatically be sent to your state senator based on your address.

4. Share the link with your fellow plumbers across Texas.
